SCRABBLE® Scramble

Game Object:
Be the player with the highest final score.  

Round Object:

Reach the Target Score by making words from your rack of letters before time runs out.

Game Tiles:

The game is played with the standard SCRABBLE® bag of tiles, including the 2 blank tiles that can be used in place of any letter.  The letters are randomly selected from the bag, and only used once.  Each round begins with a fresh bag of tiles.

Playing a Word: 

Form a word by selecting tiles from the rack using the or the buttons and placing them on the board using the button.  To return a selected letter from the board to the rack, press the button.

Replacing Tiles: Replace a selected tile on the rack with another tile in the bag by pressing the ‘2’ button.  

Playing a Word:

Press the <SELECT> button after forming a word on the board.  Only words of two or more letters are permitted.  Proper nouns, like the names of people and places, are not permitted.  

Basic Scoring:

Points for each word are awarded as follows:

1.       The Sum of the Tile Values: The point values displayed on each tile are added up. (Note: blank tiles have no point value.)

2.       Bonus Squares:

Doubles the score of the letter placed on it.

Triples the score of the letter placed on it

Doubles the score of the word placed on it.

Triples the score of the word placed on it. This is the most powerful bonus.

Doubles the score of the letter placed on it and adds seconds to the timer.

Triples the score of the letter placed on it and adds seconds to the timer.

3.       Bingo Bonus:  100 bonus points, along with a star, are awarded for  playing a seven letter word.  Five stars in a round initiate a Bingo Round.

4.    Bingo Round:  100 points are awarded for forming a single seven letter
     
word in a limited amount of time without exchanging any letters.

Total Score:

 The Total Score is calculated at the end of each complete round.

1.       Words bonus: Five points are awarded for each word played.

2.       Time Bonus:  Two points are awarded for every second remaining on the timer

3.       Tile Bonus:  Two points are awarded for each unplayed tile in the rack and the bag.

4.       Target Bonus:  The number of points by which the total score exceeds the Target Score is doubled.

5.       Bingo Bonus:  100 points are awarded for winning the Bingo Round.

Game Modes:

1.    Easy Mode:  The game begins at the lowest level of difficulty.

 2.          Medium Mode:  The game begins at a fifth round level of difficulty.

 3.       Hard Mode:  The game begins at a tenth round level of difficulty.
